    Seventh Annual Merry Trees Exhibit

    The Fredericksburg Area Museum (FAM) is pleased to announce the seventh annual Merry Trees exhibit. FAM’s gallery spaces will be filled with fourteen miniature trees decorated by second-grade students at Hugh Mercer and Lafayette Elementary Schools. Each tree is inspired by a children’s book the students have read in the classroom. FAM is excited to continue this partnership with Fredericksburg City Public Schools. This exhibition is a celebration of art, literature, the holiday season, and Fredericksburg’s elementary students. Merry Trees will be on display at the FAM (907 Princess Anne St, Fredericksburg, VA) from November 25th through December 29th, 2022.

    The Sixth Annual Merry Trees Exhibit

  • St. George’s: The Church in the Public Square

    April 3rd 2021- Present • FAM and St. George’s Episcopal Church are excited to announce a new community-curated exhibit, “St. George’s: The Church in the Public Square”. This exhibit will give voice to the history of St. George’s Parish. In celebration of its 300th anniversary, we will highlight not only the history, but also the overarching social philosophies that guide the church.

  • PlayBall! America’s Pastime in Fredericksburg

    March 2021 - Present • The Fredericksburg Area Museum is excited to announce their newest exhibit, PlayBall! America’s Pastime in Fredericksburg is now open to the public. For over 160 years, Fredericksburg area residents have played, watched, listened to, and loved the sport of baseball. The game is woven into the fabric of our region’s community. FAM invites you to walk with us through Fredericksburg’s storied baseball history – and walk up to the Batter’s Box with the FredNats.

  • Hometown Teams: How Sports Shape America

    March 1st - April 30th • FAM, in cooperation with Virginia Humanities, will celebrate this connection as it hosts Hometown Teams: How Sports Shape America, a traveling exhibition from the Smithsonian’s Museum on Main Street program. People around the country are drawn to compete in these sports and many others. Still more gather on the sidelines to cheer for their favorite athletes and teams.

  • The People’s Gallery

    March 2019 - Present • Fredericksburg is full of collectors; from match-box cars to sport-memorabilia, Fredericksburg residents have a lot to share! The introduction of this new gallery space called, “The People’s Gallery” will be given each year to a local collector to showcase what they collect and why.

    March 2019 - Dec 2019 • As a contemporary cultural center, FAM seeks to explore the stories of not only the past, but of the present as well.  In this exhibition, local minorities share their Fredericksburg experience in their own words.  Featured stories include those of new comers and life-long residents, old and young, men and women.

    March 2019 - Dec 2019 • This light-hearted exhibition reveals the history of pet ownership in Fredericksburg.  From livestock, to the Dog Mart, to animal-oriented businesses in Fredericksburg, People & Their Pets will connect museum visitors to the history of everyone’s four-legged friends.
