Artist and Performer SELECTION

The Fredericksburg Area Museum (FAM) is hosting the Fredericksburg Black Arts Festival- Revisited in historic Market Square on Saturday, June 10, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.. This festival is held in conjunction with the current exhibit Seen: Viewing the Work of African American Artists of Fredericksburg.

 

FAM invites interested artists and performers to apply for one of the 20 booth spaces or one of 7 performer slots for the festival in Market Square. Black artists and performers working in Spotsylvania County, Stafford County, King George County, Caroline County and the City of Fredericksburg are invited to apply.

 

Because space and performance slots are limited, NOT ALL APPLICANTS WILL BE SELECTED to participate in the Festival. Selection of applicants is at FAM’s sole and absolute discretion.

 

Artist and Performer Application deadline is May 6, 2023. Vendors will be selected no later than May 13.

Artist Booths

  • The Market is an outdoor event.
  • Artists leaving equipment, merchandise, or other property in booths which are unattended do so at their own risk.
  • In no event shall FAM, or the City of Fredericksburg, be liable or responsible for loss or damage to artist property.
  • Artists will be assigned one designated street parking space for unloading in a half an hour window between 7:30 and 9:00 a.m..
  • Shelves in booths must be free-standing.
  • Art and or related items may be placed outside/alongside a booth, but must not block access to other booths or walkways. FAM reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to determine whether items are blocking a travel way or constitute a danger to guests. Artist assumes all liability for damages caused by, or to, items placed outside/alongside its booth.
  • A 10 ft x 10 ft tent will be provided to each vendor. Vendors must supply their own tables, chairs, and other booth materials.
  • Electricity will not be provided. Generators are not allowed.

Performers

  • Performers will be scheduled in seven 45-minute blocks that start between 10:00 a.m. and 4:45p.m. with 15 minutes between performances. Performers are NOT required to perform for the entire 45 minutes. Youth performers are encouraged to apply. Performances can include music, spoken word or poetry readings, dance, art performances and more.

Fees Licenses and Taxes

  • There is no fee to participate in this event.
  • The City of Fredericksburg requires all artists at a special event to obtain a single event or
    multiple events license, regardless of whether the vendor is for profit or non-profit. Artists
    are responsible for paying for their license.
  • It is the responsibility of each vendor to obtain any and all license(s) prior to the event and
    submit a copy to FAM.
