FAMfun Returns!

FAM Fun!

The Fredericksburg Area Museum (FAM) is pleased to announce the return of their family workshop series, FAM Fun! Back by popular demand, FAM has crafted more exciting programs for the whole family. Families with elementary-aged children are invited to discover the museum in a new light. Each workshop features exciting educational crafts, STEM challenges, interactive gallery activities, and a sneak peek into FAM’s collection.

FAM Fun! will take place throughout the summer at the FAM (907 Princess Anne St.) between 10 am -11:30 pm. Each session will have a theme based on the Fredericksburg area’s artifacts and stories. Families can sign up for one, two or all three of these intergenerational workshops. The FAM Fun! schedule is as follows:

Let’s Go to the Carnival! (June 14th, July 19th): Did you know that Fredericksburg had a carnival island on the Rappahannock River? Pleasure Island was a carnival underneath the Chatham Bridge! Families will learn about this carnival and create their own fun with games and take-home prizes.

Let’s Discover Dinosaurs! (June 21st, July 26th): Come on a dinosaur hunt with FAM! Dinosaurs walked the same places we walk today. Families will explore FAM’s newest exhibit Stomp FXBC, make their own dinosaur fossils and much more!

Let’s Eat! (June 28th, August 2nd): A lot has changed over time, but one thing hasn’t changed: the need to eat. From fishing nets and flour bags, to candy packaging- FAM’s collection contains all kinds of food related objects. Families will get to make their own ice cream and much more!

FAM welcomes all children accompanied by an adult over the age of 18. This program is FREE and open to the public. Due to limited spots, participants must RSVP.

Visit our FAMfun event page to reserve your spots. Please note that the museum will only be open for family workshop participants on designated workshop days.
