A Monumental Weight: The ‘Auction Block’ in Fredericksburg, Virginia
The Fredericksburg Area Museum is pleased to announce the opening of its new exhibition A Monumental Weight: The ‘Auction Block’ in Fredericksburg, Virginia. This exhibit will feature the City of Fredericksburg’s ‘Auction Block’ which was removed from the corner of William and Charles Streets in the summer of 2020. Recognizing the immense historical and emotional significance of this complex object, the FAM has worked with members of the community to create this exhibit.

Lafayette’s World: Revolutionary Ideals and the Limits of Freedom
In 1824, the Marquis de Lafayette visited the city of Fredericksburg as part of his multiyear Grand Tour of the United States. Lafayette was an extraordinary individual who made essential contributions to American history as a wealthy nobleman, revolutionary hero, military officer, enlightenment thinker, democratic supporter, and committed abolitionist. Lafayette’s World: Revolutionary Ideals and the Limits of Freedom celebrates the Marquis as an individual and the belief in freedom and democracy shared by those he fought alongside in the American Revolution.

Out and About
The Fredericksburg Area Museum (FAM) is excited to announce Out and About, an LGBTQ+ exhibit focusing on the history and stories of LGBTQ+ individuals in the Fredericksburg area. We are honored to have the opportunity to preserve and tell the stories of this community that are deeply entwined in our region’s history.
