Second Saturdays – Carnival Extravaganza!
Join us on September 8th from 11 AM -12 PM for Second Saturdays – Carnival Extravaganza!
Adults and children of all ages are invited to learn about the history of Fredericksburg’s very own carnival, Southworth’s Pleasure Island. Located underneath the Chatham Bridge, Southworth’s Pleasure Island hosted free nights full of games and music. In honor of this carnival, participants will have a chance to take part in these festivities by creating their own gaming cat like the ones displayed in FAM’s exhibit “Pleasure’s Past.”
Second Saturdays at the Museum is a regularly scheduled family program that includes hands-on activities, make-and-take crafts, and an opportunity to explore the FAM’s exhibits. The program is held on the second Saturday of each month from 11 AM -12 PM, allowing visitors to discover something new within the FAM’s collection and explore a new piece of Fredericksburg’s history each month. Second Saturdays is a FREE program and registration is not required but appreciated. For additional information on this program, please contact Theresa Cramer or 540-371-3037, ext. 138.
