Come join us for a fun and interactive Plena workshop at the Fredericksburg Area Museum! Led by renowned musician, singer, and composer Kily Vializ, Director of Boricua de Mayagüez, this hands-on workshop dives deep into the heart of Plena percussion.
Learn about the history and cultural significance of Plena music while participating in hands-on activities and musical demonstrations. No prior experience is needed—all skill levels are welcome!
Feel free to bring your own “pandero,” or hand drum. We will have a some available to borrow but quantities are limited. This workshop is a celebration of Puerto Rican culture, a chance to connect with a vibrant community, and a commitment to preserving this timeless art form.
Cost: $20, $10 (ages 6-12), Free (age 5 and below)
