Teachers are invited to participate in a professional development workshop at the Fredericksburg Area Museum on June 27 from 9:00-11:00am.
Led by Theresa Cramer, FAM’s Education and Public Programs Manager, this workshop will equip educators with strategies for incorporating local primary sources into lessons on school desegregation. Participants will examine this topic through the perspectives of educators, students, and the legal system.
The workshop includes a guided tour of FAM’s newest African American history exhibition, Living Legacies: African American History in the Fredericksburg Area, as well as hands-on primary source activities designed to strengthen critical thinking skills and support student assessments.
This opportunity is designed for secondary teachers (grades 6–12) and aligns with the following Virginia Standards of Learning (SOLs): USII.5H.I., USII.8A, CE.4 A–C, CE.6.C, VUS.10G, VUS.16A–E
